These individuals have become community leaders in their fight for clean water. World Water Relief has selected these four special people to carry out the day-to-day activities of maintenance, hygiene education, community organizing, and project planning. We are proud to present this group of passionate, energetic, and devoted staff.
Jean Bapiste
Mr. Bapiste is the Haiti Program Director and was World Water Relief’s first local employee. “JB” has been helping WWR manage clean water projects in Haiti since the summer of 2009. He is an incredibly spiritual, dedicated, and hard-working fellow who has a knack for playing the ukelele and producing all-natural, roots artwork. To help the schools embrace the WASH project, Mr. Baptiste remains the face of World Water Relief long after a project is completed helping the young people in his native country understand their world and encourage them to get involved to make a difference. He wants to see the young people embrace the change he is introducing to them-that safe water is essential to stay healthy.
Ms. Duval is the program director for the Dominican Republic. Yesenia is from Batey 7 and has volunteered over the past four years as a community health promoter for World Vision. She is an outstanding community organizer. Yesenia has created a small team of WASH promoters to help develop and teach hygiene education in schools.
Samuel Marseille
Mr. Marseille is our inaugural student water ambassador. As a sophomore at Lycée Mirebalais in Haiti, Samuel preaches the good word of health, hygiene, environmental protection, and clean water. And not because we asked him to, but because he just downright loves it. Look for him on Facebook! Mr. Marseille also started a tree planting effort in his community in an effort to connect the importance of trees to the environment and clean water.
Miguel Sola
Mr. Sola is WWR’s in-house engineer, plumber, construction expert, and salsa dancer all wrapped into one. Miguel has over 30 years of plumbing experience throughout the Dominican Republic. Miguel lives with his children and can often be seen riding his beat-up motorcycle down to his favorite fishing spot.
