May 23rd:
We have continued to work with the local Barahona Rotary Club. There is a pending grant that is being processed. Once we have finalized these details we will be able to begin another WASH in Schools project in the Bateys. On another note, WWR is continually planning for the Mitchell Family’s visit to the DR. The “Mitchell Project” as it has been dubbed will provide clean water, hand washing stations, and improved toilette facilities to the school in Batey Cuchilla. The Mitchell family will be arriving mid-June to help finalize the WASH project. Not only have the Mitchells supported this WASH project in the States, but they are looking to contribute some sweat and hard work to the construction and installation. We hope the Mitchells will study up on their knowledge of PVC piping, ditch digging, and concrete mixing before their arrival. Either that, or we hope they bring us Gatorade and Cliff Bars so we can work better.
